Volunteer Callout – International Children’s Games
From 6-11 December, 2014, the city of Lake Macquarie will welcome the world by hosting the International Children’s Games (ICG) – the largest multi-sport youth games in the world.
Lake Macquarie was the first Australian city to compete in the ICG and will be the first city in the Southern Hemisphere to host the event that inspires young people to build cross-cultural relationships as they compete on an international stage.
Athletes, coaches and delegates will be staying at local sport and recreational facilities, including the University of Newcastle, and utilising local sporting venues as they compete across eight sports – swimming, gymnastics, athletics – track and field, football, sailing, water polo, golf and BMX.
The success, delivery and planning of this prestigious international event will not be possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers.
In the lead up and during the games, volunteers will be assigned to areas according to their skills, past experience and availability. All volunteers will undergo an induction and training to ensure they have the information and support relevant to their role.
