Overwhelming demand from the Central Coast community will mean the University of Newcastle’s Oral Health Van will double its available appointments in 2015.
The service, which is available to seniors and current Health Care Card holders, is staffed by Oral Health students from the University’s Central Coast campus.
Previously only open on Tuesdays during semester dates, the van will now be open on Tuesday and Friday from 9.30am – 3pm.
The dental van will operate at the following locations:
KIBBLE PARK GOSFORD
Tuesday 3 March through until Friday 5 June
THE ENTRANCE FORESHORE PARK
Tuesday 4 August through until Friday 18 September
MINGARA RECREATION CLUB
Tuesday 6 October through until Friday 6 November
The contact number for booking appointments is 4349 4416. Patients must hold a health care card to be eligible for this service.
The mobile oral health service is made possible by corporate and public donations to the University of Newcastle Foundation, which continues to maintain the specially-equipped van, along with generous help from Wyong Council, Wyong Club Grants, Wrigleys, Colgate, North Gosford Rotary and Bateau Bay Men’s Shed.
The van and the trailer were originally donated by Medfin, a provider of finance for healthcare professionals. Medfin, together with NAB Health, also covered many costs to repair and refit the van.
