The Smith Family’s Tertiary Mentoring Program

The Smith Family‘s Tertiary Mentoring Program is designed to support student’s transition from tertiary studies to work and they are currently looking for mentors in the Hunter.

The Smith Family matches students with professionals in their career field who have first-hand experience breaking into the industry and knowledge of how to navigate career pathways.

Learning for Life students on The Smith Family’s Tertiary Scholarship Scheme are matched with a mentor providing an alternative avenue of support for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. For many students, they are the first in their families to consider undertaking tertiary studies and do not have a network of people to turn to for guidance. A tertiary mentor already working in the field can share firsthand knowledge about the industry and how to gain work experience and, in some cases, even connect students with a wider network of professional contacts.
