Fledgling Businesses get a Jumpstart

Slingshot Jumpstart is a mentor driven program designed to assist entrepreneurs who want to develop a startup or scale-up business. Slingshot has partnered with the National Roads and Motorists’ Association (NRMA) to bring you the Slingshot Jumpstart program in 2015. The University of Newcastle is proud to be a Premium Partner of the program.

The NRMA has selected six fledgling start up businesses to take part in the program.

NRMA Group CEO Tony Stuart said after a thorough submission and pitch process the six startup businesses were offered places in the Jumpstart program.

“Our successful startups have a very steep business education ahead of them, each business group is given the opportunity to learn from the best. They will receive business advice, training and mentoring from recognised experts in the startup world,” Mr Stuart said.

The successful Jumpstart program participants are:

Careseekers – an online service connecting people needing in-home carers with people looking for care work.
Wunderwalk – a personal pocket tour guide, this city explorer app helps users plan their travels in 2000 cities around the world.
Gamurs – a social network for gamers
Camplify, an online booking site for caravans, camping and holiday parks.
OTTO by Gizmosis – an intuitive voice-controlled app designed to reduce the risk of drivers using their phones while behind the wheel.
Hive UAV – enabling UAVs (or drones) to fly autonomously and complete missions on a large scale for commercial applications.

Jumpstart will give the six startups access to a potential customer base of 2.4 million people – NRMA’s membership.
