Return to Newcastle

Return to Newcastle

For Mr Ho Jin Yong, a recent ‘Australian adventure’ with some friends was the opportunity to take a walk down memory lane and visit our University, where he obtained two engineering degrees in the 1970s.

We arranged a tour of the Callaghan campus for Jin Yong and his seven friends, including two UON alumni. During their tour, the group visited the library and Edwards Hall to relive some special moments from their time as students.

Jin Yong had the chance to view an Honour Board in the Great Hall, which features names of University donors – including his own – and meet scholarship recipient Alissa Thivakon, the 2012 Winner of the 1968 Singapore Colombo Plan Students Scholarship that Jin Yong contributed to.

The group enjoyed lunch with Pro Vice-Chancellor International and Advancement, Winnie Eley; Head of School of Architecture and Built Environment, Professor Bob Betz; and Acting Director Advancement, Rose Thomson.
