PODzome: in the middle of things

In conjunction with the University of Newcastle’s alliance with the Octapod Association, the launch of pop-up PODspace exhibition PODzome heralds the commencement of Newcastle’s 2014 This is Not Art (TiNA) Festival.

Curated by Jen Denzin, former PODspace Director, PODzome features the work of Jen Denzin, Penny Dunstan, Maggie Hensel-Brown, Mandy Robinson, Eleanor Jane Robinson, Bree Sanders, Brooke Stevens, and Alison Smith.

Join the artists on Friday, 12 September for the opening and entertainment.

The exhibition will be preceded by a Curation and Install: Behind the Scenes workshop  on Monday, 8 September. Participants will learn key principles of curation and installation from Gillean Shaw, Art Curator at the University Gallery, then hear from Jen Denzin how she curated the exhibition. After a light lunch, it will be time to help install the exhibition under the guidance of the curator and Gallery staff. The workshop is suitable for artists or members of the public interested in getting behind the scenes of an art exhibition.
