Our Community

Our Community, Your University

The University of Newcastle has a proud tradition of working together with its community. Community based programs emerge from our core business of teaching and learning, and research. At the same time, connection to our local and global communities keeps our efforts focused and purposeful.

We believe we are stronger when we work together. Drawing on the knowledge and strengths which exist in our community in order to collaborate for mutual benefit is essential to the University’s community engagement mission.

With our students and staff as our greatest assets, the University seeks to understand regional issues and work together with our partners to foster social cohesion and find innovative solutions through education and research – for our community now and into the future.

There are many ways you can engage with your University. These include volunteering, community outreach programs, leadership programs, Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and engaged research.

Help make a difference to the lives of students and the communities in which they live and learn.
