The Faculty of Business and Law’s Lucy Mentoring Program commenced on Monday, 12 May with a Mentor-Student session at Noah’s on the Beach hotel.
The Lucy Mentoring Program is aimed at women at university who are studying business and economics with the aim of inspiring, motivating and educating them about the opportunities for employment within the private and public sectors.
Running from May to September, the program allows students in their final years to be guided and supported by an experienced mentor from outside the University while they explore various career options they may be interested in. Students experience the work environment and establish professional business networks – both of which are beneficial in gaining employment and career progression in any organisation.
This year thirteen students have been accepted to participate in the 2014 Program with students being placed at Sparke Helmore Lawyers, Moray and Agnew Lawyers, Newcastle Airport, Hunter Water, Tomago Aluminium, Aurizon, Howes Walcott Accounting Services, Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance, Educational Experience and Delivering Results.
The Program finishes on Monday, 15 September, with student presentations and graduation hosted by Sparke Helmore Lawyers.
