The Godfrey Tanner Debate is back for 2015 and having succumbed to a loss last year, the student team is out for revenge in 2015!
The comedy-style battle of wits is held in honour of well-known UON Classics lecturer, the late Emeritus Professor Godfrey Tanner who passed away in 2002.
The debate is a fundraiser for the Godfrey Tanner Memorial Scholarship, which funds an annual scholarship to assist students who are starting their university studies and are facing hardship. The scholarship was established Professor Tanner himself, but is now supported by donations from alumni, University staff, students and the community.
The Godfrey Tanner Debate is always a fun-filled evening and this year is hosted by University legend Dr Bernie Curran and adjudicated by well-known broadcaster Carol Duncan.
Bravely taking on the students is Professor Trevor Waring, Dr Melanie James, Paul Scott and John Dugas. Lining up for the Students team again and keen take home the winners’s cup is engineering student Elyse Hudson. She’s joined by Vivak Ravindran and the Bond brothers – Austin and Conrad.
Seats are limited, so be sure to reserve your seat today.
