Everything You Need to Know About Firstchance
Housed within the University of Newcastle’s Special Education Centre, Firstchance is a not-for-profit organisation that supports families with a child with a disability by providing a range of quality early childhood intervention and school age programs. They employ highly qualified and professional staff across a range of disciplines, including early intervention teaching, speech pathology, social work, occupational therapy and physiotherapy.
Covering the local government areas of Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens, all Firstchance programs have a family-centred approach to the provision of services, believing that each family is the expert on their child and that every child, young person and family come with their own strengths, capabilities and diversity.
Early Childhood Intervention Programs are offered to children aged 0 – 6 years and their families. These include centre based services, outreach consultancy, a home based program, EarlyStart program and parent/carer groups.
