The Psychology Clinic

Caring for mental health

The Psychology Clinic at the University of Newcastle offers psychology services for adults, children and adolescents in comfortable surroundings.

Similar to both the University of Newcastle Legal Centre and the University Oral Health Clinic, the Psychology Clinic is staffed by university students who work under the close supervision of qualified psychologists. This provides the students with real world experience to help develop their skills and benefits the community by providing a service that they may otherwise not be able to access.

The clinic offers assessments and a range of time-limited programs using specific cognitive-behavioural techniques which are targeted towards specific groups. Programs have been designed to help those suffering from stress, general anxiety disorder, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression.

The clinic accepts referrals from health care and educational professionals, as well as self-referrals. Sessions also have a reduced cost for health care card holders and group sessions.
